Bhubaneswar, Sep 6: The Odisha Legislative Assembly marked a significant step in infrastructure development with the foundation stone laying ceremony for the expansion of its old guest house located in Unit-4, Bhubaneswar.
The event was graced by Speaker Surama Padhi and Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, with Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout also in attendance.
The existing guest house, which currently houses 23 rooms, has been facing space constraints. To address this, a new three-storey building will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹3.08 crore.

✨The expanded facility will add 16 new rooms and will be connected to the existing structure via elevators. The construction will span over 9,000 square feet and is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2026.
Once completed, the total room count in the old guest house will rise to 39. Additionally, the new guest house located near the OMC office already offers 18 rooms. Combined, the two facilities will provide 57 rooms for visiting dignitaries, including former legislators.
The upgraded guest house will feature online booking
capabilities and round-the-clock security, ensuring a safe and comfortable stay
for guests. This initiative is expected to enhance hospitality standards and
streamline accommodation for officials visiting the capital.
