Jharsuguda, May 30: The Odisha Crime Branch has intensified its investigation into the high-profile murder of former minister Naba Das, launching a second phase of inquiry in Jharsuguda.

A special team, led by Additional SP Vijay Mallick, has arrived in the district to conduct fresh interrogations and gather new evidence.

Sources indicate that the Crime Branch is focusing on phone records and witness statements to establish a clearer timeline of events leading up to the murder.

Investigators have recorded the statement of Praveen Deo, a local resident, based on the last call received from Gopal Das, the prime accused in the case. The team is trying to determine why Gopal Das contacted Deo shortly before the assassination.

Additionally, the Crime Branch has questioned Ganesh Bag, husband of Rajpur Panchayat Sarpanch Saraswati Nayak, to verify any potential links between the accused and other individuals.

The investigation aims to unravel hidden motives and identify any additional conspirators involved in the crime. While the Crime Branch has yet to disclose further details, sources suggest that more individuals may be summoned for interrogation in the coming days.
