Nayagarh, Mar 13: Police arrested Prakash Mohanty in connection with the murder of his two minor sons, whose bodies were found hanging from ceiling of the house at Dhanachangada village under Fategarh police limits in Nayagarh district.

Reportedly, police have arrested Prakash and his mother Souri Mohanty after they both confessed to their crime.

On March 10, the bodies of the victims Akash (14) and Bikash (11)  were found hanging from the ceiling at their house.

According to Nayagarh SP S Susree, Prakash had married Kuma Nayak 16 years ago. After Kuma's death two years ago, Prakash planned for a second marriage. To proceed with the second marriage, Prakash hatched a plan to eliminate his two sons.

On Sunday, Prakash strangled his elder son, Akash, in the toilet and later killed his younger son Bikash with the help of his mother Souri. After commiting the crime, the accused staged a suicide drama by hanging the two brothers with a rope.

Based on the complaint, police launched a probe and found Prakash and his mother Souri as the culprits. Subsequently, the accused persons were detained and later arrested. 

The two accused persons have been forwarded to court.
