Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: The nine-day festival of Navratri has begun with vibrant energy across Odisha. Temples and puja mandaps are witnessing large gatherings as devotees celebrate the divine forms of Maa Durga. Each day of Navratri honours a different manifestation of the goddess, and today marks the worship of Maa Brahmacharini, the second form.

After offering prayers to Maa Shailputri on the first day, devotees now turn to Brahmacharini, who symbolizes spiritual discipline, purity, and unwavering devotion. According to mythology, she is the ascetic form of Parvati, who performed intense meditation to attain Lord Shiva as her consort. Her name reflects her path of sacred knowledge and inner strength.

In this form, the goddess is depicted wearing a white saree, holding a Japamala in her right hand and a Kamandalu in her left, symbols of simplicity and spiritual focus. Worshippers believe that praying to Maa Brahmacharini brings peace, success, and mental clarity.

Major temples in the twin cities of Cuttack & Bhubaneswar, and Puri are conducting special rituals, with devotees lighting diyas, chanting mantras, and participating in cultural programs. Many households are observing fasts and performing pujas to seek blessings for prosperity and spiritual growth.

As Navratri progresses, each day offers a deeper connection to the divine feminine and an opportunity for reflection. The festival will culminate with the worship of Maa Siddhidatri on the ninth day, symbolizing ultimate perfection and divine grace.
