National Health Conclave In Puri: Union Health Minister Nadda Applauds Odisha’s Rapid Progress In MMR

Puri, Feb 28: Union Health Minister JP Nadda has applauded the rate at which the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) had made progress in Odisha.
Speaking at the 9th National Health Conclave in Puri Friday, Nadda said that Odisha is moving ahead at a rapid pace in MMR. “The National Health Mission has done a very good job. I can say that our progress is very impressive,” said the Union Health Minister.
“Just now there was a discussion about Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR). Today Odisha is moving ahead at a rapid pace in MMR and has established itself in the country. I always say look at the positive side,” added Nadda.

The Union Minister said that there will be no shortage of funds in the health sector. “The health situation in the country has improved due to the work of health workers at the grassroot level,” stated Nadda.

Cancer situation: Extensive steps have been taken for the prevention of cancer in the country, while work is being done on the detection and prevention of serious diseases like cancer within 90 days.
Vaccination: While Odisha is ahead of other states in vaccination, the government is making arrangements to set up Ayushman Arogya Mandir in the state.
Discussions at the Conclave
Discussions were held about the exemplary system and innovations in public health services and what new research is being done in the public health sector of the country and how to use it properly. The public health system was also reviewed.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, state Health Commissioner-cum-Secretary Aswathy S, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Puri Lok Sabha MP Sambit Patra, National Health Mission (NHM) Managing Director Aradhana Patnaik and NHM Joint Secretary Saurabh Jain are also in attendance.

Mahaling said that the two-day National Health Conclave will help Odisha in building a better, healthier and developed state. He also spoke about the Health Department's programme to set up Arogya Mandirs in every Panchayat in the state and to make Odisha TB free.
Aswathy said that the conference will focus on strengthening India's public health system, progress in the country's health sector, development of medical systems, new projects and upcoming schemes.
