Koraput, Jun 23: The driver of a pick-up van had a narrow escape after a major fire broke out at the vehicle near RK College in Dashmantpur block of Koraput district.

According to reports, the fire broke out after an 11kV high-voltage electric wire suddenly snapped and fell onto a parked Max pickup truck. The wire reportedly ignited a fire on the vehicle’s tyres, creating panic in the area.

Fortunately, the driver managed to escape just in time, avoiding serious injury.

Following the incident, local residents immediately informed the nearby fire department, which responded swiftly and brought the fire under control before it could engulf the entire vehicle.

The incident has sparked public outrage, with many questioning the accountability of the electricity department for ignoring prior warnings.

Locals are now demanding a thorough investigation and immediate repairs to prevent such life-threatening mishaps in the future.
