Nabarangpur, Sep 18: A 11-year-old girl was found dead in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district and her family alleged that she was raped and murdered, police said on Wednesday.

As per reports, the minor girl of Kantagam under Tentulikhunti police limits in the district left their house at around 1 PM yesterday to attend nature’s call. As the girl didn’t return home till late afternoon, family members started searching for her.

Later, the mutilated body of the minor girl was found near a bush behind the Govt High School in the village.

While a towel was found stuffed inside the mouth of the deceased, her dress was discovered some meters away from the body, locals said.

After getting information, Tentulikhunti Police and scientific team reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.

“We have sent the body for an autopsy and a conclusion can be drawn only after we get the postmortem report,” a Police officer said.

“We are looking into every angle of the incident. The family members claimed that the girl was raped and murdered. Further investigation is underway,” he added.
