Dhenkanal, Aug 25: The sacred grounds of Mahima Gadi at Joranda in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district witnessed the vibrant celebration of Nabanna, the harvest festival that marks the offering of newly harvested rice to the divine.

Observed on Bhadraba Shukla Dwitiya, the festival celebrates the first yield of the season, symbolizing gratitude and prosperity. This year, the rituals were performed with deep reverence, as devotees prepared offerings from freshly harvested rice, transformed into chuda (flattened rice) and served with fruits, sweets, chhena, curd, and other traditional items. These were ceremoniously presented to Mahima Swami, seeking blessings for the welfare of the world.

The Nabanna celebration at Mahima Gadi is not merely a religious observance but a cultural expression of Odisha’s agrarian roots. It reflects the harmony between nature, spirituality, and community. The rituals emphasize simplicity, purity, and the philosophy of Mahima Dharma, which advocates universal brotherhood and renunciation.
