Jharsuguda, Mar 18: A two-member team of Odisha Crime Branch, Tuesday, has recorded the statements of the family members of former Minister Naba Das at their residence in Jharsuguda.
The Crime Branch officials – investigation officer Bijay Mallick, Additional SP, and Diptimayee Mallick, DSP – arrived at Naba Das’ residence in Sarbahal, Jharsuguda, Tuesday morning to record the statements of his wife Meenati Das, son Bishal Das and daughter Dipali Das.
The move comes after the family demanded for a CBI investigation into Naba Das’ murder case. After the demand for a CBI investigation, the Crime Branch has once again initiated the investigation process.
Letter To Chief Minister
In a significant development, Meenati Das, wife of late Naba Das, has written a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi seeking an appointment. According to reports, Meenati Das had written the letter March 11, requesting to meet CM Majhi to submit a written application regarding a CBI investigation into her husband’s murder case.
Naba Das' son, Bishal, confirmed the application and mentioned that both email and postal letters were sent to request an appointment for the meeting.

Notably, Naba Das was allegedly shot by Gopal Das, a former ASI of police, in Brajrajnagar of Jharsuguda district January 29, 2023. He was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he was declared dead, after primary treatment in a nearby hospital in Jharsuguda. The accused was arrested the next day while the State government had directed the Odisha Crime Branch to probe the matter.
