Bhubaneswar, Mar 19: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will meet Minati Das, the wife of former minister late Naba Das at 5PM at the Lok Seva Bhavan here in Bhubaneswar today.

This meeting comes after Minati had sought an appointment to meet the Chief Minister through email and letter by post.

The move from Naba Das’ family came after Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan had recently said that the family should submit a written request if they want a CBI investigation into the case.

Sources said a two-member CB team, comprising a new investigating officer ASP Vijay Mallick and DSP Diptimayee Mallick, visited Das's residence at Sarbahal in Jharsuguda and recorded the statements. They have so far recorded the statements of Depali Das and Bishal Das, the daughter and son of Naba Kishore Das.

The CB has already submitted the chargesheet in a trial court at Jharsuguda against assistant sub-inspector of police Gopal Das, who had allegedly shot Das dead at Gandhi Chowk under Brajrajnagar police station while he was stepping out of his car to attend a party event on the fateful day.

It is worth mentioning, the state Crime Branch has restarted its investigation into the murder of former Health minister and senior BJD leader Naba Kishore Das, which took place on January 29, 2023.
