Bhubaneswar, May 11: An undertrial prisoner, Mohan Behera, was found dead in Jharpada Jail just two days after his arrival, raising serious concerns among his family members.

Behera had been arrested by Jatni police on May 8 in connection with an Aska-40 illegal liquor trafficking case and was sent to judicial custody at Jharpada Jail.

His untimely demise has led to allegations from his family, who question the circumstances surrounding his death.

Family Alleges Foul Play

Behera’s relatives have lodged a complaint at Laxmisagar Police Station, demanding an investigation into the mysterious death.

They argue that there is no plausible reason for his sudden passing within such a short period after his incarceration. They have urged authorities to conduct a thorough inquiry to uncover the truth behind his death.

Following the complaint, the police have initiated an investigation into the incident. As part of standard procedure, Behera’s body has been seized for autopsy and has been sent to Capital Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
