Keonjhar, Sep 6: A tragic incident unfolded in Kohlabeda village under Radhikadeipur Panchayat of Ghasipura block, Keonjhar district, where a mud wall collapsed on a family while they were asleep, resulting in the death of a minor and leaving two others critically injured.

According to reports, the mishap occurred late on Friday night when one Anjana Jena and her two children were sleeping inside their kutcha house. Suddenly, a portion of the mud wall gave way and collapsed onto them.

One of the children died on the spot, while Anjana and her younger son sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Anandpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.

Sources indicate that the wall had weakened due to continuous rainfall over the past few days, making the structure vulnerable.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the village, with locals mourning the loss and demanding immediate attention to housing safety in rural areas.

Authorities are expected to visit the site and assess the damage.
