Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat has assured Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi that he will soon take steps to establish a branch of the Modern Art Gallery in Bhubaneswar. Sarangi recently met Sekhawat and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi first proposed to the Centre to set up a branch of the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Bhubaneswar on September 10, 2024.

✨On September 25, 2024, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also wrote to the Union Minister of Culture and Tourism to establish a branch of a national-level Modern Art Gallery in Bhubaneswar at the earliest. The Chief Minister suggested that architectural sculptures like Khandagiri, Udayagiri, Elephant Caves, Lingaraj Temple, Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, and Konark Sun Temple should be placed in the proposed national-level Modern Art Gallery branch.
On March 13, 2025, the Bhubaneswar MP took up the matter with Sekhawat again. In response, Sekhawat assured that work for the art galley will begin soon.
"Once set up in Bhubaneswar, the national-level Modern Art Gallery will educate our future generations about our ancient heritage and culture," said the Bhubaneswar MP.
