Paradip, Sep 16: In a disturbing incident that unfolded late Monday night, a youth was tied to a pole and beaten by residents of Mundapada slum in Paradip on suspicion of child theft or robbery.

The incident sparked temporary unrest in the area before police intervened.

According to local sources, the youth was spotted behaving suspiciously near the slum, leading residents to suspect him of criminal intent. Acting on their own, they tied him to a pole and physically assaulted him. The situation escalated quickly, drawing a crowd and creating tension in the locality.

Paradip Model police station was alerted, and officers arrived at the scene to rescue the youth and bring him to the station for questioning. Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the facts behind the incident and verify the allegations.
