Salepur, Aug 14: The body of a minor girl, who went missing after slipping into the canal, was recovered on Thursday morning. The incident was reported from Narada village under Salepur police limits.

The victim identified as, Suchitra, a Class IX student, reportedly slipped into the canal while washing clothes on Wednesday.

Despite immediate efforts by local residents, the search operation remained unsuccessful.

However, on Thursday morning, Suchitra’s body was recovered near Mal, a nearby location along the canal.

Later, on being informed, police from the Japakuda outpost reached the spot, and seized the body for post-mortem.

While the body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination, a case of unnatural death has been registered and an investigation is underway.

It is worth mentioning, Suchitra’s father, Prahallad Swain, had passed away three years ago due to illness.
