Kendujhar, Sep 29: A shocking incident in Kendujhar district has left the region in turmoil after the husband of a woman constable was shot dead by miscreants. The attack occurred on Tuesday morning in Turumunga police station limits, sparking widespread concern and grief.

The deceased, Trilochan Mahanta, was married to a constable posted at Patna police station. According to reports, Trilochan ran a public service centre at Kendeiposhi and would routinely carry cash home at night.

On Monday evening, while returning home with money, he was ambushed. Eyewitnesses claim the assailants first attacked him with sharp weapons before opening fire, killing him on the spot.

The motive behind the murder remains unclear, though police suspect it may not have been a simple case of robbery. The brutality of the attack has raised suspicions of deeper criminal intent.

Kendujhar SP Nitin Kushalkar visited the crime scene and assured swift action. “Three independent teams have been formed to track down the culprits. A technical team and a scientific team have also been deployed to examine the evidence,” he said. The SP promised that the perpetrators would be apprehended at the earliest.

Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have vowed to bring the culprits to justice quickly.
