Koraput, June 5: The tragic deaths of six patients in a single day at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput have raised serious concerns about healthcare management and accountability. Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling visited the hospital on Thursday and held discussions with a team of experts and hospital authorities to investigate the incident.
The minister assured that a special medical team, comprising doctors from MKCG and SCB MCHs, has been assigned to analyze the circumstances surrounding the deaths, and a report will be submitted to the government within three days. Based on the findings, appropriate action will be taken if negligence is identified.
The hospital superintendent reiterated that there was no neglect from their side and confirmed that the medications and injections administered to the deceased patients have been sent for examination.

✨Meanwhile, Congress members staged a protest outside the hospital, blaming governmental negligence for the deaths. They also criticized the minister for not meeting the families of the deceased, calling it an insensitive move. The party has demanded the resignation of the health minister, arguing that the deaths indicate a failure in medical infrastructure and patient care at the facility.
