Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: The redevelopment of the Cuttack Chandi Temple will be completed by 2026, state Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan informed the Odisha Assembly on Saturday. The minister was replying to questions raised by Cuttack-Barabati MLA Sofia Firdous on the status of major infrastructure projects in the city.
Harichandan said the temple project is progressing as per target and periodic reviews are underway to monitor timelines. He added that work on the Cuttack's Ring Road has already begun at the process level, though progress had slowed due to heavy rainfall that led to high river water levels and an accident at the site. “Despite the delay, the project will be completed within the scheduled timeline,” he told the House.
The minister also said that procedures for constructing the second bridge at Trisulia have commenced.
Firdous had expressed concern over delays caused by alignment issues, DPR gaps and lack of inter-departmental coordination, urging the government to expedite all three key projects.
On Friday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, presented a Supplementary Budget of Rs 17,440 crore for 2025–26. The allocation is in addition to the main budget outlay of Rs 2.90 lakh crore and aims to strengthen flagship programmes across health, education, social security and urban infrastructure.
