Khordha, Jan 16: A mining officer was reportedly attacked by mafias in Khordha district late Sunday night.

The injured officer has been identified as Jagan Behera. 

Acting on a tip-off, Jagan reached the site where stone and murram were illegally excavated and when he intercepted, some mafias attacked him brutally for which he sustained injuries.

Jagan Behera was then immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

Later, the mining department has registered a written complaint at the Khordha Police Station in this regard.
