Balasore, Apr 10: The locals of Kanthibhaunri village under Bhograi police station in Odisha's Balasore district foiled a theft attempt at a electric motor repair shop.

According to reports, the thieves, a group of three, had visited the shop earlier in the day on the pretext of exchanging Rs 500 with the shopkeeper. Later, they returned at the night and broke open the shutter of the shop. However, the plan was unraveled when vigilant villagers noticed suspicious activity inside the shop and alerted others about the same.

Acting promptly, the locals managed to apprehend one suspect while other two managed to escape from the spot.

Later, the locals thrashed the accused person and handed him to the police.

A Passion Plus motorbike, 40 kg of copper wire, 50 kg of new copper wire, and three electric motors, were recovered from the possession of the accused person.

Reportedly, a case has been registered and an investigation into the case is underway.
