Athagarh, Jun 15: A shocking bomb attack rocked the Regedapada village under Athagarh police limits late Saturday night, raising concerns over ongoing personal rivalries in the area.

The incident, which appears to stem from a longstanding dispute between two families, has once again brought violence to the doorstep of Sushil Pradhan.

According to police sources, two bombs were hurled at Sushil Pradhan's betel shop around midnight. One exploded on impact, while the other remained unexploded and was promptly seized by Athagarh police for forensic examination.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported, although Sushil’s son, Mithun Pradhan, narrowly escaped harm as he was resting in the shop when the attack occurred.

Investigations suggest that the attack may be linked to an ongoing feud between Sushil Pradhan and Karna Behera, another local resident. Sources indicate that past animosities, allegedly rooted in a love affair, have contributed to rising tensions between the two families.

Police records show that just 15 days prior, Sushil’s house was targeted in a similar bombing incident, with three bombs reportedly thrown at the residence.

Following the latest attack, Sushil Pradhan lodged a formal complaint with the Athagarh police station. Authorities have since launched an intensive investigation, examining potential motives and identifying suspects involved. Security has been tightened in the area to prevent further escalations.

The recurring nature of such violent episodes has alarmed residents, prompting calls for stricter law enforcement measures to curb criminal activities arising from personal conflicts. Athagarh police assure swift action, stating that evidence gathered from the scene will be crucial in tracking down the perpetrators.
