Nayagarh, Sep 11: In a shocking breach of trust, six individuals including two teachers have been arrested for allegedly stealing rice meant for students at Notar Adarsha Vidyalaya in Nayagarh block.
The incident came to light late Wednesday night when locals spotted suspicious activity and alerted the Itamati police.
Acting swiftly, police reached the school premises around 11 pm and intercepted a vehicle loaded with 13 quintals and 50 kilograms of rice, reportedly being smuggled out of the school. The rice was part of the mid-day meal scheme intended for students.

Among those arrested are teachers Kamal Bikash and Ashok Nayak, lab assistant Basanta Swain, along with the driver, helper, and a local rice trader. All six have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the theft and any additional involvement.
Authorities are now reviewing inventory and distribution
records at other schools in the district to prevent similar incidents.
