Sambalpur, Apr 14: On the occasion of the holy Mahavishuba Sankranti, Odia New Year and Hanuman Jayanti, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan joined the Meru Yatra at Khubel and Hirakud in Sambalpur district.

The Union Minister first visited the temple of Maa Dakshin Kali and Baba Siddheshwar at Khubel in the Rairakhol constituency. Later, he visited the Maa Dandakali Temple at Hirakud and joined the gathering in the Meru Yatra. Pradhan greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Mahavishuba Sankranti, Odia New Year, and Hanuman Jayanti.

"Meru Yatra is a festival of worship of Shiva and Shakti. This festival has uphelds our local tradition. The gathering of thousands of citizens shows the spirit of devotion and spirituality in our society. I am fortunate to be part of this journey," said Pradhan.

He wished that the Odia New Year be a year of joy, happiness and prosperity for all. The Union Education Minister prayed to Lord Jagannath and Maa Samaleswari for the welfare of society.
