Widespread Dip in Temperatures
The IMD bulletin reported that at least 17 places across the state recorded minimum temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius. Jharsuguda registered 10.9°C, Rourkela 11.1°C, and Bhawanipatna 11.5°C, indicating a widespread fall in night temperatures across western and northern Odisha.

✨The sudden dip has brought relief from the lingering post-monsoon humidity, but also signals the onset of harsher winter conditions. Residents in colder districts have already begun preparing for the season, with increased demand for warm clothing and heating appliances.
Seasonal Outlook
Meteorologists suggest that the cooling trend is likely to continue, with Kandhamal, Koraput, and Sundargarh districts expected to witness further drops in temperature over the coming weeks. The IMD has advised people, especially children and the elderly, to take precautions against the chill.
Odisha’s winter season typically peaks in December and January, with Daringbadi often recording sub-5°C temperatures. The current dip marks an early arrival of the cold wave, setting the stage for a brisk winter ahead.
