Key Points

  • At 103, Padmavati Nath continues temple-building work across Odisha.
  • Despite impaired vision, she tirelessly seeks donations for temples.
  • Nath resides at Lakshminarayan Temple, inspiring locals through devotion.
Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: At 103, Padmavati Nath of Dhabalahar village under Balianta block of Khordha district, remains a remarkable figure of faith and dedication. Despite her age, Nath’s devotion to God drives her daily life, with her energy and commitment surpassing what many younger people can muster.

Blind in one eye and nearly losing vision in the other, she continues to inspire her community through her tireless work. She goes from village to village seeking donations, which she uses to construct and maintain temples. Nath has played a key role in building temples across Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, and Khordha districts.

Padmavati Nath was widowed at 90 when her husband, Indumani Nath, passed away. She has one son and two daughters, all of whom are doing well. Choosing a life of devotion, she left her family home to reside in a small monastery in Dhabalahar, dedicating herself to the service of the deities. She now resides at the Lakshminarayan Temple after the monastery where she lived fell into disrepair.

Nath has been instrumental in constructing the Lakshminarayan and Mahadev temples in her village. While some work remains unfinished due to funding challenges, she continues to dream of completing these projects. Her efforts reflect a deep faith that transcends age, inspiring locals and visitors alike.

Even when earlier attempts to seek help from villagers did not yield sufficient support, she persevered, placing her trust entirely in God. At 103, her devotion and determination remain undiminished, proving that age is no barrier to faith in action.
