Medical Seat Scam: Odisha Police Arrest Four Persons In Admission Fraud

Bhubaneswar, May 3: The Special Crime Unit of Odisha Police on Saturday arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in the illegal sale of medical college seats.

The accused include one individual from Bihar, one from Jharkhand, and two from Odisha, said police.

Addressing a presser, the senior police official stated that these brokers allegedly duped students from outside states, charging lakhs of rupees to secure admissions in private medical colleges fraudulently. The unit is currently investigating to identify other individuals and institutions involved in the scam.

During the raid, authorities also seized various documents, including student applications, checks, brokers’ checkbooks, and NRI and OCI sponsorship certificates, said the police official.

Additionally, officials also seized two luxury cars and two plots of land in Arugul area linked to the suspects.
