Jagatsinghpur, Jul 8: Medical Officer of Kujanga Community Health Center (CHC) was on Tuesday caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The accused officer, identified as Dr. Shiba Prasad Sethi, had demanded bribe in exchange of issuing a post-mortem report of a deceased woman.
Following this, the deceased's husband, unwilling to yield to unethical demands, lodged a formal complaint with the Vigilance Department.
Based on the plaint, the anti-corruption wing laid a trap and caught the medical officer red-handed at a clinic in Cuttack.
Dr. Sethi was immediately taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine if more officials are involved.
The incident has stirred public outcry, raising questions about the integrity of medical services and the vulnerability of grieving families at such critical moments.
