Mayurbhanj, Sep 14: A school teacher in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has been suspended for allegedly beating students after they failed to touch her feet following the morning prayer.
According to reports, the incident took place at Khandadeula Government Upper Primary School in the Betnoti block, where the assistant teacher, identified as Sukanti Kar reportedly assaulted students from three different classes.
The teacher was enraged when the students did not perform a traditional gesture of respect — touching her feet — after the school prayer session.
Following complaints from parents and the School Management Committee, the matter was brought to the attention of the Block Education Officer (BEO).
