Mayurbhanj, Dec 1: In a tragic incident, a truck driver's reckless driving resulted in a series of accidents Saturday morning at three different places leaving four dead in Mayurbhanj district.

The truck driver is absconding after committing series of accidents at three different places -- Ratan Sahi, Dalima and Bahalda.

The 12-wheel truck rammed into an autorickshaw (OD-11A-6574) in Bagdega under Bahalda police station limits leaving three dead. The deceased have been identified as Laxman Soren and his wife Paan Soren from Bhagabandi village, and the autorickshaw driver Dhanuram Marndi. 

At Dalima under Tiring police station, the truck hit Dharmapada Patapandha, a native of Dalima village. The body of the deceased has been sent to Rairangpur Medical for post-mortem.

The police managed to seize the truck (OD-15E-7721), but the truck driver is absconding. Police teams are searching for the accused truck driver. More details are awited in this connection.

The locals have blocked the Ranchi-Vijayawada Highway (NH 220) demanding compensation for the families of the deceased. They have also demanded to make the Rairangpur to Tiring road a 'no entry zone'.

It's been 24 hours since the accidents took place, but the protest was still going on when the last report came. Police and local administration failed to bring back the road operation to normalcy despite their efforts. 

They were still trying to calm the situation with talks with the locals. More details are awaited.
