Khunta (Mayurbhanj), Nov 9: In a shocking incident, family members have allegedly killed their daughter-in-law and tried to frame it as a sucide, claimed the deceased's family.

The incident happened in Mathiabhanga village under Khunta Police Station limits in Mayurbhanj district.

As per the report, the deceased, identified as Arati Sethi, was killed by her mother-in-law, husband and sister-in-law. To show the death as a suicide, the accused hanged Arati's body.

The report says that Arati was regularly tortured by her in-laws and husband. She even informed about being tortured to her family multiple times.

However, Arati's husband and in-laws decided to take a cruel call to kill her. To save themselves from the heinous crime, the accused hanged Arati's body with the help of an apron to frame it as a suicide.

The husband, identified as Sumanta Sethi, informed Arati's family that she has committed suicide. When Arati's family arrived at the scene, they found their daughter lying dead on the bed.

Arati's family has claimed that her death was not a suicide, rather it's a murder, committed by Arati's in-laws and husband.

After being informed, Khunta Police arrived at the scene and recovered Arati's body, while a scientific team has investigated the crime scene. 

Police, on the other hand, have detained Sumanta, his mother Santilata Sethi and sister Tilotama Sethi and are questioning the accused.
