Mayurbhanj, Feb 16: An elderly man was allegedly trampled to death by wild elephant In Kalianal village under Moroda block in Mayurbhanj district on late thursday night.

Three tuskers entered Kalianal village Betanti range late on Thursday night and created a ruckus.

The deceased person is identifiend as Punia Dehuri.

According to the information, Puina Dehuri was sleeping in the house with her two daughters when suddenly three elephants came and attacked them, knowing that the elephant was coming, the two girls ran away, while Puina was dragged by a tusker and trampled to death on the spot.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after the elderly man’s death.
