Mayurbhanj, Aug 2: A shocking incident unfolded in Patasahi village under Rarua police limits near Khiching, where a man and a woman allegedly attempted suicide by setting themselves on fire after pouring petrol on their bodies.

The duo, whose identities are yet to be ascertained, was found in critical condition by locals and were immediately rushed to hospital.

While the woman succumbed to her injuries, the man, with severe burn injuries, is reportedly undergoing treatment.

The reason behind the suicide attempt remains unclear, prompting police to launch a detailed investigation.
