Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: A marathon was organised in Bhubaneswar to mark the 'Balidaan Divas' (Sacrifice Day) of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati today.
The Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati Memorial Trust organised the event. More than 5,000 youth moved in the marathon that started at Nigamananda Ashram near the Exhibition Ground and ended at the Rajmahal Square.
The mass run was organized to help people memorize the dedication and sacrifice of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati towards society.

✨Swami, a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader, was gunned down at his Jalaspeta Ashram in Kandhamal district by miscreants on this day of Janmashtami in 2008.
Following the incident, two commissions of inquiry were constituted to unearth the incident. The commissions submitted their reports to the government in 2015. However, they are yet to be made public.
