Bhubaneswar, Sep 17: In a significant development, the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) has expressed its willingness to initiate peace talks. The organization’s central spokesperson, Abhay, issued a formal letter proposing a temporary halt to armed activities.

The letter, which has been circulated to media outlets and government authorities, requests a one-month period during which the Maoist leadership will engage in internal consultations.

Abhay stated that the group intends to declare a ceasefire following these discussions, marking a potential turning point in the decades-long insurgency.

To facilitate dialogue, the Maoist spokesperson has also released an official email ID, urging the government to use it as a channel to present its stance and begin negotiations.
