Maoist Camp Busted in Odisha’s Nuapada; Explosives Seized

Key Points

DVF uncovers Maoist camp in protected forest near Nuapada’s Naren Dongar region.

20 gelatin sticks, 1 IED, detonator and wires seized during combing operations. Maoist presence suspected as extremists shift from Chhattisgarh due to crackdown.

Nuapada, Jul 8: A significant breakthrough has emerged in anti-Maoist operations along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. Under the leadership of Nuapada SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, security forces have uncovered a suspected Maoist camp near the protected forests of Naren Dangar under Sinapali police limits.

During combing operations by the District Voluntary Force (DVF), several explosive materials were found at the site, confirming active militant activity in the region. The seized items include 20 gelatin sticks, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), a detonator, and connecting wires. These materials were recovered from deep jungle terrain believed to be used by Maoist operatives as a temporary hideout.

Nuapada SP informed media personnel in a press briefing that Maoist infiltration from neighbouring Chhattisgarh is suspected, particularly in light of intensified counter-insurgency drives underway in bordering districts of the adjoining state.

Authorities suspect that Maoist cadres may be relocating toward Nuapada to evade crackdown efforts across state boundaries. Police and paramilitary forces have since increased vigilance and intensified surveillance in strategic forest zones to track further movements.
