Keonjhar, Jan 26: A man and his second wife allegedly died by suicide in Harada Badi village under Hadagarh panchayat in the Soso police station area of Odisha's Keonjhar district, a source said Monday.

The incident is linked to a domestic dispute. The deceased man was identified as Bagrai Hansda, a resident of the village. He was previously married and allegedly brought a young woman, Raimani Soren, from Manoharpur village, to his home about 15 days ago.

According to the source, the man’s first wife, who had been staying at her parental home, later returned to the village. Following her return, differences reportedly arose between the man and his second wife.

On Tuesday, villagers held a meeting to address the issue and advised the couple to resolve the matter amicably and live together peacefully. However, a short while later, Bagrai Hansda and Raimani Soren were found hanging from a tree near the village with ropes tied around their necks.

Police were informed and reached the spot. Further investigation is underway.
