Malkangiri, Jan 24: In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old man allegedly committed suicide soon after killing his wife over alleged family dispute in Odisha's Malkangiri district on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Konda Babu and his wife, Benu Kumari (35) of Christianpara under Podia police station limits in the district.
As per reports, Accused Konda slit his wife’s throat with a sharp weapon in the afternoon following a violent faceoff with her. His wife reportedly died on the spot.

Soon after the incident, Konda slit his own throat with the same weapon. He was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to  the Podia hospital.

However, he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

After getting information, Podia Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.

Prima facie, it appears that due to family issues Konda Babu took the extreme step, police said.
