Mayurbhanj, Mar 27: Police Thursday arrested a man on charges of raping and impregnating his 15-year-old niece. The incident was reported under Baripada Town police area in Mayurbhanj district.

The matter came to fore after the victim, a class 10 student, lodged a written complaint against her uncle, Ganesh Mahakud of Jamda block.

On basis of the report, a case was registered against the accused in POCSO court.

According to reports, Ganesh was frequently visiting victim's house. During this, Ganesh somehow recorded a nude video of the victim. In order to take physical advancement, the accused started blackmailing the girl and threatened the victim to make the video viral on social media. On this note, the accused outraged the modesty of the girl.

In the complaint, it is alleged that the accused raped the victim for the past 6 years making her pregnant.

Soon learning upon, the accused tried to fled away. However, he was nabbed and taken into custody for further investigation into the matter.
