Man Dies In Road Accident; Villagers Stage Protest With Dead Body, Demands Compensation

Salepur, Mar 2: The residents of Banaguria village under Mahanga block in Salepur's Chatia staged a protest by placing the dead body of man, who was killed in a road accident.


The deceased has been identified as Purnachandra Behera of Banaguria village under Kuhunda panchayat.

According to reports, Purnachandra was returning home when one Manthan Bihari, son of Bharat Bihari, of Kotapada area hit him from behind. Soon after the incident, Purnachandra was rushed to SCB Medical College & Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Following the incident, infuriated locals staged a protest on the road by placing the dead body and demanded compensation for the family members of the deceased.

On being informed, Jeypore police reached the spot and tried to pacify the matter.

Reportedly, the matter is being investigation and more details regrading the incident is awaited.
