Koraput, Sept 22: In a shocking incident, a man was reportedly killed and his wife sustained critical injuries after being attacked by none other than his son-in-law at Laxmipur in Koraput district this morning. 

The deceased was identified as Lochan Baipari of Talachampi village. He was working as a daily wager at Laxmipur. 

The dreadful incident occurred over a family feud, said Sumitra Baipari, the younger daughter of the victim couple. 

Lochan's daughter Popi Baipari had married Krushna Jani of Jhalaguda village a year ago. Due to continued family quarrels in the in-laws' house, Popi came to her paternal house and lived with her parents.  

Last night, angry Krushna came to Lochan's house and started throwing stones at his house. Then he beat Lochan with an iron rod, killing him on the spot. He didn't spare his wife Popi and mother-in-law Badali as they tried to save Lochan. The mother-daughter duo are undergoing treatment in a hospital now. 

On being informed, police came to the village and seized Lochan's body. They registered a case and started an investigation after sending the body for postmortem.
