Her invention — a safety boat that never sinks — has already earned accolades at block and zonal-level competitions, and now stands poised for national recognition.
Innovation with Impact
Lalita, a student of RSC-6 High School in Doraguda Panchayat under Chitrakonda Block, developed the boat entirely through her own efforts. Designed to remain afloat regardless of weight or water conditions, the boat addresses a critical safety issue in regions dependent on water transport. Her project has drawn attention for its practical utility and creative engineering, especially in remote areas like Malkangiri.
Journey to the National Stage
Lalita’s journey began at the block-level science exhibition and progressed to the zonal competition in Kolkata, where she secured first place. Now, she is preparing to showcase her innovation at the national-level exhibition in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Despite her success, Lalita faced financial hurdles in reaching the national stage. The cost of travel, project reconstruction, and logistics posed a major challenge. After her story aired on Argus News, Malkangiri MLA Narsingha Madkami stepped in to support her.
