Malkangiri, Sep 25: A tragic incident has shaken the town of Malkangiri as a 21-year-old BSc Nursing student from a private college reportedly died by suicide at her residence.

The deceased was a student at Ghadei College and had recently been discharged from the district medical hospital following a previous suicide attempt.

According to family sources, the girl had earlier consumed toilet cleaner in an attempt to end her life. She was admitted to the hospital and discharged just a day before the latest incident.

On the morning of the tragedy, the nursing student allegedly tried to hang herself at home. Her father, who witnessed the act, rushed her to the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.

The family has alleged that she was driven to suicide due to betrayal in a romantic relationship.

The incident has sparked concern and outrage in the local community, with calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. The college administration has yet to issue an official statement, while police have initiated a preliminary inquiry.
