Sundergarh, Jul 2: In a significant breakthrough, security forces uncovered and foiled a major Maoist plot near the Odisha-Jharkhand border, in the dense Saranda forest of Koida block in Sundergarh district.

Acting on reliable inputs about the presence of Maoists in the area, police and security personnel launched an operation near Husipi village under Tonto police limits. During the search, a massive cache of detonators, believed to be stockpiled by Maoist operatives, was recovered from a secret location.

Later, the bomb disposal squad was called in to safely neutralise the explosives on-site.

The seizure comes amid rising concerns over Maoist activity in the Kolhan region and follows an earlier incident on the 28th of last month, where explosives were reportedly looted from a stone quarry.

While this seizure has possibly averted a major catastrophe, officials are on alert.
