Puri, Aug 18: Devotees of Lord Jagannath have now a reason to be happy. The State government is mulling to distribute Mahaprasad free of cost among them at the temple.
"Devetees always aspire to eat Mahaprasad. The State goverment is now a formality for distributing Mahaprasad among the devotees visiting the Shreemandir. It will be finalised soon," said Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan today.
The Minister's assertion has been welcomed by devotees and servitors as well.
"It is a good decision. Devotees will get Mahaprasad and feel blessed. Poor people will benefit a lot," said devotees.
Such a move had been initiated in 2018 by the then State government. But it was stopped for unknown reasons.

✨However, Minister Harichand'as statement has elated devotees again.
"We come to have Darshan of Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra. We always want to eat Mahaprasad in the Anand Bazaar. If the government will give us the Mahaprasad, devotees will certainly be happy," said a woman devotee.
A servitor said the governemnt should distribute both Abhada Mahaprasad and Sukhila (Dry)Mahaprasad so that all devotees visiting the temple can get Mahaprasad and feel happy. He also stressed on the distribution of Mahaprasad at all the four gates of the shrine.
