Weather Alert / Low Pressure Moves West, Odisha Rainfall to Ease

Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: Odisha is expected to witness a gradual decline in rainfall starting Thursday, as the low-pressure system formed over the northwestern region transitions into a cyclonic circulation. This system has been influencing widespread showers across the state, particularly in interior districts.

According to meteorological models, the system is now shifting westward, reducing its impact on coastal Odisha. However, moderate rainfall is likely to persist in districts such as Kandhamal, Balangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada. Additionally, regions like Boudh, Angul, and Dhenkanal may also experience sporadic showers through tonight.

Wind speeds from the northeast have been contributing to the rainfall pattern, but as the system moves, the intensity is expected to taper off. By tomorrow, the rain-bearing clouds are forecasted to drift towards Madhya Pradesh and western Chhattisgarh, marking a shift in the monsoon's trajectory.

The overall precipitation is expected to decline steadily. Coastal areas will see a sharper drop in rainfall compared to the interior regions.
