Low Pressure Likely Over Bay of Bengal, Odisha Braces for Heavy Rain

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal within the next 12 hours. This system is expected to intensify into a well-marked low-pressure zone over the following 24 hours, potentially triggering widespread rainfall across Odisha, IMD predicted.
Under its influence, several districts in southern and western Odisha are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. On August 18, Malkangiri and Koraput districts are expected to receive intense showers, while on August 19, Koraput and Kalahandi have been placed under an Orange Warning, indicating the likelihood of severe weather conditions.

✨The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea due to rough conditions and strong winds associated with the developing system.
