Puri, Jun 10: Public darshan of sibling deities at Puri Jagannath Temple has been suspended till 2 pm today for a special ritual. This was informed by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

According to reports, the temple will remain closed for devotees for special ritual called 'Senapata Lagi Niti'.


As part of the Snana Purnima observances, the sibling deities—Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra—are undergoing special rituals, including Senapata Lagi Niti, which ensures their protection before the grand Snana Yatra (bathing ceremony). Following this sacred tradition, public darshan at Shree Mandir will remain suspended until 2 PM to allow servitors to complete the elaborate preparations.

On Wednesday, the Dhadi Pahandi ritual will commence, carrying the Chaturdha Murti to the Snana Mandapa, where they will undergo Mangal Arati, Mailama, and Surya Puja, among other observances. Following the bath, Lord Jagannath will appear in the rare Hati Besha (elephant attire) before entering His healing phase, known as Anasara.

During the Anasara period, devotees turn to Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri, seeking divine blessings until the Rath Yatra commences. Temple officials have advised devotees to follow darshan restrictions during this sacred transition.

Authorities have deployed security personnel around Puri to ensure smooth proceedings, allowing devotees to witness this significant spiritual event peacefully.
