Puri, Nov 24: As per Hindu calendar on the second day of Kartik Panchuka the deities are adorned in the Bankachuda Besha. On the Sukla Pakhya Dwadasi (12th day), the Lords are decorated in this Besha (attire) which falls today on November 24.
Lord Jagannath along with Baladevjew will be dressed with a spectacular head attire in this ritual. The word 'Banka' means tilted and 'chuda' translates to hair, symbolising the tilted hair of the two brothers in the southern direction. Additionally, a golden kewda head gear is also decorated on the bun. This avatar is also known as 'Bamana Besha'.
However, Devi Subhadra has no change in her attire apart from the golden kewda flowers that are added in her hair.
