Puri, June 23: Lord Jagannath, Lod Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra have been shifted to Anasara Ghar (sick room) inside the Srimandir as the holy trinity fell sick after the grand holy bath on Deva Snana Purnima on Saturday.

As per rituals, the deities were taken in pahandi to Anasar Ghar late last night where they would be treated for fever by their Vaidya (physician) for 13 days instead of the usual 15 days. The deities would remain away from public view for about 14 days. This period is considered a time of recuperation.

On the outer wall of the sick room, images of the deities were fixed called ‘patti dian’ to whom the bhog was offered, a servitor said.

"Different herbal pastes are applied on the deities throughout the day as prescribed by the vaidyas. The servitors also offer the special medicinal dishes prepared by the healers. An oil massage with a specially prepared lotion, the phuluri tela, is also being applied," he added.

This year, the Rath Yatra falls on July 7. On the same day, the ‘Naba Jaubana Darshan’ and ‘Netrotsav’ of the deities are also falling.
