Bhubaneswar, Jun 20: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Niranjan Rath, the National Secretary of the Lok Sevak Mandal.
In a heartfelt message, Pradhan said he was “deeply saddened and pained” upon hearing the news of Rath’s passing.

Just days before his passing, Rath had been elected as the National Secretary of the Lok Sevak Mandal, a role that reflected his lifelong dedication to public service. His death has cast a pall of grief over his native region of Athagarh, where he was deeply respected.
Known for his simplicity and unwavering commitment to social causes, Rath was also a former editor, publisher, and printer of the Odia daily The Samaja. He was associated with numerous service organisations, including JIMSAR and the Samaja Relief Committee, and was widely admired for his contributions to journalism, literature, and community welfare.
Expressing grief over the demise, Pradhan stated, “I am saddened and heartbroken to hear of the sudden passing of Shri Niranjan Rath. He was a humble, soft-spoken, and compassionate individual. Despite holding several important positions, his lifestyle remained remarkably simple.”
Minister Pradhan recalled several personal interactions with Rath and praised his unwavering dedication to journalism, law, and social service.
“He carved out a unique identity through his commitment to public welfare, and his legacy will remain unforgettable,” he said.
Offering prayers for the departed soul, the Minister extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
